Latin America tipped to be global growth hotspot for e-commerce
Rapid adoption of the internet in Latin America is making the region one of the hottest e-commerce investment opportunities at the start of the 21st century, the Huffington Post reports. Online retail sales are forecast to more than double in Brazil between 2012 and 2017, according to Forrester Research, with Mexico and Argentina also starting to take off. The market looks set to expand exponentially given strong GDP growth forecasts and continuing adoption of the internet and mobile devices by a growing middle class. Trinidad has distinct competitive advantages to host Latin American information and communications technology operations. These include an IT savvy workforce with many Spanish speakers, 40 daily flights to countries in the region, guaranteed low cost of operations because of low energy rates and competitive office space.
