Investors' vital role in Caribbean economies focus of new awards programme

If you’re an innovative Caribbean investor, bolstering regional economies with financial and social support, this is for you.

Prizes in four categories are up for grabs in the inaugural Regional Investor of the Year Awards. Hosted by the Caribbean Export Development Agency and the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA), the awards celebrate how investors fuel Caribbean economies through capital spending, job creation, injection of new knowledge and pioneering of greenfield industries.

“These best practices should be heralded as role models, demonstration projects or success stories within the region and promoted with the view to attracting similar investment,” said Pamela Coke-Hamilton, executive director for Caribbean Export, host of the CAIPA Secretariat.

Awards

  • Local Investor of the Year
  • Foreign Investor of the Year
  • Special Awards
  • Regional Investor of the Year (selected from the winners of the first three categories)

The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 11. Winners will be announced at the CAIPA General Assembly on Nov. 22 in Belize.

Investors in any of CAIPA’s 19 member states are eligible to enter. Special consideration will be given to investors who specialise in the region’s target industries: renewable energy, women-led projects, highly creative and innovative projects and research and development.

Interested investors can apply through the investment promotion agency in their home country or by downloading application forms from the Caribbean Export Development Agency website, along with an information package on award criteria and terms and conditions.
