InvesTT presents new Business Opportunities to Private Sector Groups

 

 

Trinidad and Tobago’s national investment promotion agency, InvesTT, unveiled 3 business opportunities during a recent Heads of Chambers and Business Associations’ meeting hosted at the agency’s new location in Tower D, International Waterfront Centre. The presentation was the first in a series of interactions to be held with local Chambers of Commerce in the coming months.

InvesTT targets investments in industries such as Manufacturing, ICT, Creative Industries, Maritime Services, Agro-processing and Tourism. The agency has facilitated 15 site visits from local and foreign investors within the past 10 months, closed 5 investment projects (4 local, 1 foreign) over thesame period and currently has an active pipeline of investments pending.

Based on in-depth research commissioned from PricewaterhouseCoopers Trinidad through standard procurement procedures by InvesTT in 2018, the opportunities presented were:

  1. Downstream Secondary Aluminum – the recovery of aluminum and aluminum alloys from scrap and the manufacturing of inglots.
  2. Manufacturing of Light Emitting Diode (LED) components.

  3. Establishment of a Film Studio.


 

Heads and senior representatives of the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the T&T Manufacturers’ Association, the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce and The Arima Business Association were appreciative of the opportunities shared by InvesTT. There was a high level of optimism among them about the potential to be gained as stand-alone or joint venture investment projects among their memberships.
