InvesTT hosts investment discussion with local private sector

Friday 27th January, 2023: InvesTT Limited hosted heads and members of business chambers from the south, central and east of Trinidad at a business networking event on Thursday 26th, January in Chaguanas to discuss the facilitative role of the agency in the local business arena. The Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce was a key collaborator in organizing the event which was attended by approximately 50 representatives from the Chaguanas, Couva, Cunupia, Penal-Debe and Tunapuna chambers.

Franka Costelloe - Chairman, InvesTT in her opening remarks stressed the benefits to be realized by investors who seek the free assistance of the IPA stating,
“We look forward to adding your investment projects to the pipeline to ensure that they can be realized quicker than they would otherwise. … We’d like you to leave this event today feeling confident that you have a partner in your investments and that InvesTT is here to facilitate.”

Addressing the gathering, Chaguanas Chamber president Baldath Maharaj indicated his keen interest in the InvesTT product offering while referring to the outlook for local business recovery and growth. He said, “We expect that the expertise which InvesTT has to offer and the synergies between the business community and InvesTT can create opportunities in the non-energy sector.”

During a brief presentation Sekou Alleyne, President, InvesTT shared information about the IPA’s work and the facilitation services that it affords local businesses looking to expand operations or diversify. He highlighted the agency’s recent Open Call for Investment Projects, whereby investors in Manufacturing, Maritime and Logistics & Distribution seeking investment opportunities via partnerships or joint ventures, are invited to submit their project proposals to access the agency's facilitation services in support of their investment goals. He emphasized the agency’s drive to support investments asserting that,The important focus here is not InvesTT, it is you (the investor). We want to help you realize your investment plans and achieve your investment goals.”

The event was well received by those in attendance with keen interest shown during the Q&A session about the nature of the free services provided by InvesTT and the capacity of the agency in advocating for improvements within the local business landscape as it applies to regulatory processes. Dhanraj Harrypersad, General Manager of Client Services at exporTT was also on hand to provide feedback in areas of grant funding facilities for SMEs.

With high targets set for this fiscal, the Agency looks forward to follow-up collaboration with heads of the business chambers and members to explore opportunities for business advancement.
